David French
David French Intensive in the Craft of Playwriting

For thirty five years, David has lived in Cable Head on the north shore of Prince Edward island during the summer. Just a short bicycle ride away is the historic, small fishing village of St. Peters Bay.

“David French is one of the five most important Canadian playwrights of the 20th century. His work has been seen around the world where he had communicated the essence of Canadian struggle, hopes, dreams, loves and destiny. He has been seminal in creating a Canadian voice for the world theatre. With typical Canadian modesty, he goes about his work as a writer and teacher with a quiet grace and modest dignity – but his intellect and instinct for powerful theatre roar with energy when he starts to write. David is a lion of Canadian theatre.”
