Ron Irving

Ron Irving is currently Adjunct Professor and Coordinator of Theatre Studies at UPEI. He was the founding Artistic Director of Theatre Prince Edward Island (1980-97) where he directed over fifty productions, initiated the New Voices Playwriting Competition and accompanying Playwrights' Workshop. He also founded the renowned seniors' performing troupe "The Venerables" that toured extensively in Canada over the past 20 years. He was Atlantic Regional Officer for the Canada Council and, earlier, Assoc. Professor at Boston University's School of Fine Arts Theatre Department. He was appointed a member of the Order of Canada in 1991.
